Fox News host Neil Cavuto was rather hard on Michael Steele today, trying to get a straight answer from the RNC Chairman about some of the “bad blood” between establishment Republicans and tea partiers.
Steele denied that he was among the establishment Republicans, saying “have you been reading my press lately? The last thing you can say about me is that I’m part of the establishment.”
Cavuto replied: “Well that’s true because everybody hates you. I’m kidding!”
Cavuto began by pointing out that though Republicans seem to love the tea partiers, when he’s talked to tea partiers they weren’t nearly as positive about Republicans.
“I’m wondering,” Cavuto asked, “if there’s a little bad blood there.”
Cavuto wouldn’t let Steele try to deny it, and brought up how the tea partiers managed to force out sitting Senator Bob Bennett (R-UT), who Cavuto said the Republican establishment liked.
Steele responded: “Please do not mix the Republican party establishment — I don’t know who that is by the way.”
“You! You! You! You, you, you, you, you,” exclaimed Cavuto.
