LOS ANGELES (AP) — A family representative says prolific and charismatic actor Bill Paxton, who played an astronaut in “Apollo 13” and a treasure hunter in “Titanic,” has died from complications due to surgery.
The family representative issued a statement Sunday on the death. Further details were not provided.
Paxton, a Texas native, got his start in films in the art department on Roger Corman movies in the ’70s before getting a chance to go in front of the camera.
He quickly became a favorite of director James Cameron through the ’80s and ’90s, appearing in films such as “The Terminator,” ”Aliens” and “Titanic.”
The statement says “Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable.”
The family requested privacy at this time.

“Game over, man!” RIP.
Kinda shocking because he was young (yes, I’m at the age where 61 is still young!) and that he just started a new series. Condolences to his family and RIP.
Paxton’s had many memorable performances. Here’s one that I’ve always found to be particularly poignant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn73Wtem0NoJust heard an interview with him on the Marc Maron WTF podcast, apparently he was at Kennedy’s parade route the day he was assassinated and has had a life long interest in the event ever since. An interesting guy, sorry to see him go so young.
From his wikipedia, he’s the kid propped up above the crowd:
That’s sad. RIP. He was fairly young…60 years old. Had to look it up. Doesn’t look like the type to have aged much as he got older too. Wonder if it was a preventable death since it happened as a result of surgery.
