President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team is reportedly unsure whether or not to retain Dr. Deborah Birx, one of the Trump administration’s prominent COVID-19 experts, on their own pandemic advisory board.

Per Politico, some transition officials are concerned about Birx’s role in President Donald Trump’s poor handling of the pandemic. The doctor has been criticized for standing by the President even as he’s peddled lie after lie about the virus, including the blatantly false claim that injecting oneself with disinfectant is a cure for COVID-19.

For her part, Birx has clashed with Trump on the seriousness of the virus, prompting the President to attack her as “pathetic.”

A Biden transition official told Politico that the President-elect’s team plans to do some “house cleaning” with regards to the COVID-19 advisers Trump had appointed.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has publicly contradicted the President’s artificially optimistic spin on the pandemic, is reportedly the only one whom Biden will keep for sure.
