President Joe Biden wants to leave his predecessor in the rearview mirror.
During a CNN town hall on Tuesday night, moderator Anderson Cooper asked Biden for his thoughts on the 43 GOP senators who acquitted ex-President Donald Trump in the impeachment trial on Saturday, especially since Biden had said he was “anxious” to see if Republicans “stand up.”
The President told Cooper he wasn’t going to “call names out” and reiterated that he wanted to put the subject to rest.
“For four years all that’s been in the news is Trump,” Biden said. “The next four years I want to make sure all the news is the American people.”
“I’m tired of talking about Trump,” he added as the audience applauded. “It’s done.”
Throughout the House impeachment process and the subsequent Senate trial, Biden largely kept quiet about the proceedings and emphasized instead his focus on his sweeping $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package.
