A U.S. citizen was killed by Israeli commandos Monday during the raid of the Free Gaza flotilla, multiple media outlets are reporting.
Al Jazeera reports the man’s name is Furkan Dogan, with ABC reporting he was 19 years old. Dogan was reportedly of Turkish descent and lived in Turkey.
Reuters cites the Turkish Anatolian news agency reporting that Dogan was shot four times in the head and once in the chest.
According to NBC, Dogan was born in New York and moved to his family’s home country of Turkey at the age of two. He held a U.S. passport, the Financial Times reports.
Eight Turkish nationals were also killed, according to Al Jazeera.
