We’re watching the Congressional hearings on those forged letters to lawmakers sent by an astroturf lobbying group working on behalf of a coal-industry lobby group.
And Rep. Tom Perriello, who received some of the forged letters and was first to testify, just had a nice flourish that’s worth highlighting.Perriello said that, on an issue as important as global warming, it’s important to be up front about what you believe, whatever it is. If you’re a coal company, said the Virginia Democrat, it shows a lack of courage to instead join a coal-industry front group, which then hires a PR firm, which then hires an astroturf lobby firm, which then hires a temp, who forges a letter in support of your position.
An obvious point maybe, but nicely put.
