Griles: Report Clears Me!Yesterday, I noted Ralph Reed’s ballsy response to the McCain Abramoff report, in which Reed was painted as a greedy hypocrite.
Well, today we have the lawyer for J. Steven Griles, the former number two at the Department of Interior, trumpeting the report’s findings. The committee, as I noted yesterday, is mighty suspicious of Griles’ account.
But according to his lawyer, Griles is pleased âthat the committee found no evidence he had acted improperly.â
Not true. They found plenty of evidence that he lied to them. They just couldn’t prove it. But, then, “Mr. Griles is pleased the committee couldn’t prove he’s a liar,” wouldn’t make for such a good quote, now would it?
