The Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced in a press release Monday that its Administrative Committee has formally endorsed Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin in the open race for Senate, to succeed retiring Democratic incumbent Herb Kohl:

While rare, such endorsements occur only after due diligence by the Committee where it has become clear the recipient is the only bona fide Democrat in the race. The endorsement, made Jan. 15, makes it easier for County Parties to support Baldwin’s run.

“While the Republican Tea Party field runs further to the right and into the arms of their Wall Street masters, Tammy Baldwin has shown that she will fight these interests and protect our struggling middle class,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Monday

Baldwin has already been the presumptive Democratic nominee for a few months. On the Republican side, there is a heated primary between former Gov. Tommy Thompson, former Rep. Mark Neumann, and current state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, which will be held in August.
