In an interview on ‘Fox News Sunday,’ pizza magnate-turned GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain played it coy while answering questions about his proposed tax plan. Cain declared that ‘some of the best economists in this country’ helped him develop his ‘9-9-9’ plan, but then refused to name them. The new tax plan calls for a 9% flat tax on business and personal income along with a 9% national sales tax.
When pressed by host, Chris Wallace, Cain repeatedly refused to name his muses, other than admitting that the chairman of his economic advisory group is a man name ‘Rich Lowery of Cleveland, Ohio.’
The candidate refused to name any further advisors that might have helped Lowery, claiming that he had to protect their confidentiality. All he would concede was that the mystery men are ‘a couple of people that you know very well.’
