It turns out New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie isn’t the only popular Republican state leader who won’t be attending the right’s marquee annual confab.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) was not invited to this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the Virginian-Pilot reported Tuesday.
McDonnell spoke at CPAC the previous two years. This year’s conference is scheduled for March 14-16 in Washington, D.C.
Like Christie, McDonnell enjoys high approval ratings at home. But the two governors have also rubbed some prominent national conservatives the wrong way. McDonnell set off something of an uproar on the right when he agreed to a compromise with Democrats in the Commonwealth on a transportation package that included new tax revenues.
