Police are investigating a shooting in which a boy suffered a gunshot wound to the face when he was left home alone Wednesday morning in Amelia, Va., Richmond TV station WWBT reported.

Two boys, who neighbors say were brothers, were left alone at the residence, according to the Amelia Bulletin Monitor. One boy, 11, was handling a gun when the weapon accidentally fired, according to that newspaper. The child’s brother, 10, called 911 to report the older boy had been shot in the mouth.
