Two tornadoes devastated a Nebraska town on Monday, killing a five-year-old and injuring at least 19 others, according to the Associated Press.

The twin twisters touched down within approximately a mile of each other in Pilger, Neb. Meteorologist Barbara Mayes told the AP that the event was a rarity, since dual tornadoes usually vary in intensity and don’t track together for so long.

  2. Every time I see footage of a tornado or satellite imagery of a category 5 hurricane, I find myself thinking that this planet was only barely habitable before we decided to run an uncontrolled experiment on changing the thermal insulative properties of the atmosphere.
