Vicki Gardner, the local Chamber of Commerce director who survived the the August shooting during a live broadcast in Virginia, spoke out for the first time this week.
Gardner detailed her memory of the shooting to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren in an interview that aired Tuesday night on “On The Record.”
She said that she noticed “movement” during the live shot, and said that the shooting then took place very quickly. Gardner added that the shooter was “very silent.” She also explained that she made a quick decision to drop to the ground and play dead, after which she was shot in the back.
Two journalists, Alison Parker and Adam Ward, were killed in the August shooting.
“My heart just goes out to Alison and Adam, and they’re so young. Why save me and take them?” Gardner said.
Watch Van Susteren’s interview with Gardner via Fox News:
That has to be the most terrifying thing I have ever watched. Trying to imagine yourself in that woman’s position and not being able to do so. Trying to imagine how immensely surreal that it must have felt to watch that entire scenario happen. You admire her calmness and placid demeanor. I admire that woman’s bravery. It is truly inspirational at the same time as being the most horrifying thing you can imagine. She is a brave woman.
I cant believe she watched the video because she wanted to make sure her story was true and she didnt see things wrong. That had to be horrifying. I worry for her. I think she is suppressing a lot of emotion. She even said she was trying to detach. She is certainly a brave woman regardless
Thing was she wasn’t targeted as the other two were. She was there by circumstance and survived. Manufactured fear mongering by Fox News.
So what if the station had reported the shooters strange behavior to police when he was canned…i mean he threatened um and swore vengence…
Why would she give the interview to Fox though?
Why tell a real story on a fake news station?
yeah that’s gonna confuse the hell out of their viewers
