True the Vote, the Tea Party-affiliated organization that has rallied in support of voter ID laws, wants to stick up for Florida’s right to purge their voting rolls, according to a federal court filing.
True the Vote teamed up with the conservative group Judicial Watch to file a motion seeking to intervene in a federal case over Gov. Rick Scott’s controversial purge of Florida’s voting list. The two groups “seek to enter this lawsuit in order to demonstrate that, not only are the State of Florida’s list maintenance activities valid, proper, and timely, but that they also are required under federal law,” according to a court filing.
J. Christian Adams, the Bush-era Justice Department official who resigned from DOJ’s Civil Rights Division because of the handling of the voter intimidation case against members of the New Black Panther Party, is listed as “of counsel” for True the Vote and Judicial Watch. Adams is now a blogger for the conservative Pajamas Media and runs the Election Law Center.
