Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was mocked by a Gawker website on Tuesday for holding his gun incorrectly and violating multiple safety gun rules.
Cruz was shown propping a shotgun over his right shoulder and gesturing with his hands during an interview with CNN about the changes he’d like to see to future GOP debates.

When you learn to shoot, apply for a hunting or carry license and any time you’re at a gun range, there’s four basic rules of gun safety that — and this is impressed on you very strongly — must be observed at all times:
- Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
- Never point a firearm at something you’re not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Indefinitely Wild is a site about the outdoors. The author of the Cruz post, Wes Siler, included a photo from one of his own hunting trips, showing him dressed in camouflage, and waking with his gun “pointed in a safe direction.”

He’s a detestable human being but I’m giving him a pass on this one. Yes, you always should have the muzzles pointing downward. But like Khaaannn says, the action is open and both barrels are visibly unloaded. The weapon can’t shoot anyone, period. I’ve seen people carry this way. It’s comparable to saying he’s not a safe driver because in a video you can see his hands aren’t at 10 and 2. He probably did 11 worse things than this before breakfast that day.
Based on some recent photos I’ve seen, I would say she did crush her face.
