U.S. Capitol Police responded on Wednesday to an incident in which a suspect in a vehicle struck a police car near the Rayburn House office building in Washington, D.C.

Capitol police fired at the driver of the vehicle, according to NBC News’ Pete Williams.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Capitol Police said there was “no nexus for terrorism.” She confirmed that the suspect was a woman.

ABC News reported, citing Metro D.C. Police, that the suspect also attempted to run over several officers who were on foot. Police said that nobody was hit and the suspect is now in custody.

The incident took place at Washington Ave and Independence Ave, according to ABC. That intersection is the outermost perimeter of the security cordon around the Capitol.
