In the second-to-last question he answered in a live chat on The Guardian’s website, Edward Snowden, the self-proclaimed source of recently leaked top secret National Security Agency documents, was asked what he thought about the public debate prompted by the documents he disclosed.
“Initially I was very encouraged,” Snowden wrote. “Unfortunately, the mainstream media now seems far more interested in what I said when I was 17 or what my girlfriend looks like rather than, say, the largest program of suspicionless surveillance in human history.”
