Snapchat, a mobile application for the iPhone and Android smartphones that allows users to send recipients images that disappear after a few seconds, has added support for sending similarly short-lived videos, Betabeat reported Friday. Numerous media outlets have linked the app to “sexting,” or sending sexually explicit texts, but one of Snapchat’s co-founders has attempted to refute this idea, at least in part, saying that most of the content sent through app is done so during the day. Snapchat reportedly recently raised upwards of $10 million in venture capital funding for a $70 million valuation, according to TechCrunch.
