Authorities on Monday investigated a report of a single shot heard on the campus of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
No evidence of a firearm discharge was ultimately found, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
The county police received the report around 10:48 a.m.:

The U.S. Navy originally said it could not confirm the report and its personnel in Bethesda were sheltering in place.

The Montgomery County Police Department and the Navy both confirmed later in the afternoon that there was no evidence of a gunshot.
