Senate Democrats’ campaign arm is hitting former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) for quickly and repeatedly coming to the defense of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) over the George Washington Bridge scandal.

Brown, who’s strongly indicated plans to run for Senate in New Hampshire, has repeatedly appeared on Fox News to defend the governor. After an exhaustive press conference Christie held to address the allegations Brown said the New Jersey governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate had passed “the test.”

“By taking to national television to defend scandal plagued Governor Chris Christie, Scott Brown (R-MA) is showing Granite Staters that despite his rhetoric, he’s really just a loyal partisan who always stands up for his campaign contributors,” the email from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee obtained by TPM said.

“Brown continues to defend Christie even though the bridge scandal is being investigated by a U.S. Attorney and Christie has lawyered up,” the email continued. “A growing chorus of public officials are speaking out against Christie’s record and reputation of bullying, but Scott Brown still claims nothing is wrong.”

The email goes on to note that the Boston Globe reported a former aide to Brown now working for Christie was subpoenaed in relation to the bridge scandal.

“Earlier this week, the Boston Globe also reported that Brown’s ties to Bridgegate go even deeper. His former spokesman turned Christie aide, as well as the executive director of the New Hampshire GOP, also a former aide to Christie, was subpoenaed as part of the Christie imposed traffic jams on Fort Lee,” the email continued.

Scott Brown (R-MA) Takes to FOX News to Repeatedly Defend Chris Christie, Shows True Colors As a Loyal Partisan That Voters Can’t Trust

Brown Puts Party First, Goes to Bat for Christie After Raking in Campaign Cash from Scandal Plagued Governor

By taking to national television to defend scandal plagued Governor Chris Christie, Scott Brown (R-MA) is showing Granite Staters that despite his rhetoric, he’s really just a loyal partisan who always stands up for his campaign contributors.

Ever since the “Bridgegate” scandal broke, Brown has repeatedly appeared on FOX News to defend the embattled Governor Christie, even going as far as comparing him to John F. Kennedy, praising him for his “courage,” “good judgment,” and “integrity,” and calling on his fellow Republicans to give Christie a pass. Brown’s defense of Christie follows the New Jersey Governor’s financial support for Brown’s last Senate race in Massachusetts.

“Scott Brown’s rhetoric about putting people above politics has always been entirely empty and his decision to play the role of Chris Christie’s defender in chief reinforces the notion to New Hampshire voters that he’s nothing more than a partisan opportunist,” said Justin Barasky, a spokesman at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “As defender in chief of scandal ridden Chris Christie, Scott Brown is showing his true colors as a loyal partisan who puts his party first, especially when it comes to those who bankroll his campaign.”

Allegations surrounding Bridgegate and Chris Christie’s administration continue to grow more serious but none of that bothers Scott Brown. Brown continues to defend Christie even though the bridge scandal is being investigated by a U.S. Attorney and Christie has lawyered up. A growing chorus of public officials are speaking out against Christie’s record and reputation of bullying, but Scott Brown still claims nothing is wrong.

Earlier this week, the Boston Globe also reported that Brown’s ties to Bridgegate go even deeper. His former spokesman turned Christie aide, as well as the executive director of the New Hampshire GOP, also a former aide to Christie, was subpoenaed as part of the Christie imposed traffic jams on Fort Lee.

“Scandals and reckless abuses of power may be par for the course for New Hampshire Republicans and Scott Brown, but this kind of corruption represents exactly the kind of leadership that Granite Staters can’t afford,” added Barasky.
