Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson called on Rep. Todd Akin to drop out of the Missouri Senate race Monday. Johnson is the first sitting Republican senator not currently running for re-election to urge Akin to drop his bid in the wake of controversial comments on rape.
Todd Akin’s statements are reprehensible and inexcusable. He should step aside today for the good of the nation.

Sen. Scott Brown, who is in a close race in Massachusetts, earlier called on Akin to quit the race.
