Ryan Cites Hometown Advantage In Wisconsin

Paul Ryan said that President Obama can’t take winning Wisconsin “for granted any more” in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published Sunday. Ryan noted that being the “hometown guy” is a boost to the campaign and that the recall election earlier this year helped Republicans prepare for November.

“I’m the hometown guy,” Ryan said. “People know me. I think people root for their home team.”

Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s victory in the recall election was also proof, Ryan said, that the GOP was “much better” at mobilizing supporters than they have been in the past. “I look at our recalls as a great example of how to win a race. Be really clear about who you are, what you believe, what you plan on doing, and go do it,” he said.

The TPM PollTracker Average has Obama leading Mitt Romney by 8 points in Wisconsin.
