Russia on Tuesday withdrew its request for an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, a diplomat told CNN.

The move comes in the midst of negotiations between the U.S. and Russia on a potential diplomatic solution to Syria’s stockpile of chemical weapons. A plan proposed by the Russians would place the Assad regime’s stockpile under international control.
