Former model and girlfriend of Donald Trump, Rowanne Brewer Lane, who was quoted over the weekend in the New York Times about her experience with the real estate mogul, on Monday morning said that the New York Times twisted her words.

The Times included a story from Lane about the first time she met Trump, when he offered her a swim suit to change into at a party he was hosting at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

“They did take quotes from what I said, and they put a negative connotation on it. They spun it to where it appeared negative,” Lane told “Fox and Friends.” “I did not have a negative experience with Donald Trump, and I don’t appreciate them making it look like that I was saying that it was a negative experience because it was not.”

“He never made me feel like I was being demeaned in any way. He never offended me in any way,” she continued. “He was very gracious. I saw him around all types of people, all types of women. He was very kind, thoughtful, generous. He was a gentleman.”

Lane told Fox News that the Times’ account that Trump asked her to change out of her clothes was “false.”

She said that she had not brought a swim suit to the party because she had come directly from a photo shoot. Lane said that Trump asked if she wanted a swim suit and she accepted one.

“He made a comment, ‘Now that’s a stunning Trump girl right there,’ I was actually flattered by,” she added. “I didn’t feel like it was a demeaning situation or comment at all, and that’s what I told the Times, and they spun it completely differently.”

Lane also told Fox News that she never saw Trump mistreat a woman.

Following Lane’s interview on Monday morning, Trump railed against the Times, pointing to Lane’s story.

  1. What’s the big deal ? Don’t you always offer female guests a swimsuit to change into when they come to visit wearing a dress ?

    (sigh)

The NYT didn’t spin anything. You just didn’t understand that you were being demeaned.

  5. Between the lines: “It worked! I told the truth about the way Donald treated me, and the New York Times printed it Then, Donald called me and offered me a whole bunch of money to say it wasn’t true. Like clockwork!”
