The Toronto budget chief who gave Rob Ford the giggles on Thursday is now clarifying that he wasn’t actually tickling the crack-smoking mayor.

“Oh my God! You’ve got to be kidding,” Frank Di Giorgio told the Toronto Sun after he was informed that the photos showing him placing his hands on a laughing Ford had become something of a sensation in the United States.

Di Giorgio insisted there was no tickling involved and that he was simply talking football with Ford.

“The mayor and I share a background in football, any time the mayor, let’s say gets angry with me, I say, ‘You know what, we’ve got to settle this on the football field’,” Di Giorgio said.

“I said to him let’s get down into a three-point stance and we’ll fire out at each other and we’ll see who wins on this thing. I kind of lunged towards to him and pushed him back.”
