A federal grand jury in Brooklyn is probing campaign finance violation allegations surrounding the 2010 campaign of Republican Rep. Michael Grimm (a former FBI agent), The New York Daily News reports.
“Let’s say, so far, it is a tool to get people’s attention – that we are serious about our questions about the Congressman,” one law enforcement source told the paper.
Two former campaign workers have received subpoenas to testify before a grand jury, according to the paper. Previous reports indicated that at least four former staffers had been interviewed by the FBI, while Grimm has denied taking illegal cash contributions.
