GOP Chair Says Some Questions About Carson’s Past ‘Are Appropriate’ (VIDEO)

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus said during an appearance on Monday’s episode of NBC’s “Today” that some vetting of the life story and memoirs of Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is “appropriate” but that it has turned into a “crazy obsession.”

“I would imagine some questions are appropriate, but I do believe that this is totally a crazy obsession over incredible detail from 30 or 40 years ago, whether it be this issue or some of these other issues highlighted earlier in the segment among other candidates,” Priebus told host Matt Lauer. “The fact is we kinda wish the media would be just as obsessed or half obsessed with Hillary Clinton’s lies of many years.”

When asked if questions about Carson’s campaign, backed “interesting and inspiring life story,” are legitimate, Priebus conceded some were.

“I’m not saying questions aren’t appropriate,” Preibus told Lauer. “But I think you get to a place where all the questions have been asked.”

  1. “…a crazy obsession over incredible detail from 30 or 40 years ago…”

Um…asking whether or not you were offered a full scholarship to West Point isn’t really the “crazy obsession of an incredible detail.”

  2. A crazy obsession like questioning Obama’s birthplace, citizenship and Religious beliefs? For 8 years time vs a few days time?

  3. “I’m not saying questions aren’t appropriate,” Preibus told Lauer. “But I think you get to a place where all the questions have been asked.”

If a question is posed and the answer is non-responsive, evasive or insistent the original story is truthful despite evidence to the contrary the media will repeat the question until a sensible, believable answer is provided. Stating all questions have been asked, and implying it's time to move on, is not the point.

“Timmy, the cookie jar is half empty and Tina says she saw you take them. Is that true?”

“No, I don’t recall that’s how the cookies went missing. Tina is mistaken.”

“Now Timmy, Tina isn’t lying and you know it. Just tell me the truth, did you take them?”

“Mom, I’m not saying questions aren’t appropriate, but I think you get to a place where all the questions have been asked.”

Yeah, that would go over well.
  4. Bottom line is, the R party should be happy about severe scrutiny of the candidates versus this mollycoddling they’re giving them. How in the world will they know who is the strongest candidate if they don’t?

  5. OUR crazy OBsession AgAInt Kenyan-born CRYPto-muSLIm ohbuMMER isn’t crazy. Your questioning CarsON’s True FACTs IN A BIOGRAPHY (of COURse FA Cts BEcAUSE biogRAPHIES are FACTS!) IS racist against JEsUS.
