Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Thursday that a change in Senate procedure with respect to judicial and executive branch nominees was necessary to preserve the institution in the future.
“It’s time to change the Senate before this institution becomes obsolete,” he said on the Senate floor. “The need for change is so, so very obvious. It’s clearly visible.”
Democratic aides told TPM Thursday that Reid may invoke the “nuclear option” to reform the filibuster with 50 votes.
