Reid Gets Emotional In Speech Before Immigration Vote

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) got emotional on the Senate floor Thursday ahead of the final vote on legislation that would reform the nation’s immigration system as he told of his father-in-law and Astrid Silva, an undocumented 23 year-old who came to the United States from Mexico when she was four, and who was also watching Reid’s speech from the gallery.

“This bill helps pave the path for many wonderful immigrants like Astrid Silva to become full participants in American society,” Reid said.
