In a poll spanning the day a Politico article appeared describing allegations of “sexually harassing” behavior made against businessman Herman Cain by two women during his tenure at the National Restaurant Association (which Cain has denied) and the day after, President Obama leads in a national sample. Rasmussen began conducting the survey on Sunday October 30th. The Politico article came out that evening. The firm completed it on Monday the 31st, when the allegations received wall-to-wall coverage.

Obama got 43 percent in the trial heat versus 38 for Cain. “Support for Cain was a bit softer Monday than they were the day prior,” Rasmussen wrote. “However, it will take time to determine whether the allegations have any lasting impact on his campaign.”
