Protesters broke out in chants just as Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) took to the Senate floor to announce how she plans to vote on the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

She has, with the media’s assistance, turned this into an event about her. Then she opened her speech with a sharp criticism of anyone who fought against the Kavanaugh nomination. Now she’s pontificating about how fair and wise Kavanaugh has been as a judge. Those protestors (kudos to them) are unfortunately wasting their energy.
I guess there goes $20.20 to a good cause.
She’s caving.
What a surprise.
Her current argument is that just because Trump nominated him that doesn’t mean he’ll protect Trump, Nixon was not protected by judges he appointed, blah blah blah.
Which is a strawman argument, no one is saying that he’ll protect him simply because Trump appointed him, for example Gorsuch might well not protect Trump from prosecution, but Kavanaugh was chosen precisely because he said that he would protect Trump, he said that the way he attacked Clinton to impeach him was something he regrets, of course he does, now that a Republican is President.
She’s pathetic.
Exactly. Why the hell am I even listening to this? Now we’re getting examples of other justices who did the right thing. What a textbook fold.
We will welcome a new blue senator from Maine in 2020.
