On a day when most political campaigning was suspended after the mass shooting in Colorado, a progressive group went ahead with its plan to deliver more than 240,000 signatures demanding Mitt Romney’s tax returns to his Boston campaign heaquarters Friday.
A spokesperson for Democracy for America — the progressive group founded from the remnants of Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential run — tells TPM DFA activists brought 245,300 signatures to the Romney campaign HQ Friday morning around 9 a.m. “They were turned away and escorted out by Secret Service,” the group said.
DFA posted this video to YouTube Friday:
Most political campaigning was suspended Friday in the aftermath of the shootings. The Romney and Obama campaigns pulled down ads in Colorado, as did the super PACs supporting them.
