The White House issued a threat Wednesday to veto a House bill that would intensify the screening process for refugees entering the United States, according to NPR.
The bill, backed by House Republicans, would ramp up the screening for refugees from Syria and Iraq.
President Obama’s plan to admit thousands of refugees in to the United States has been criticized by Republican presidential candidates and state governors who have said that they will refuse refugees.
Experts have said governors can’t legally deny refugees. Still, a Syrian family was rerouted Wednesday to Connecticut after officials in Indiana, where they had planned to settle, objected.
The House is expected to vote on the bill this week.
Obviously, if you vote republican, the terrorists win.
I propose a compromise - for every Syrian refugee the United states takes. Syria takes one of our Republican bed wetters. At the current rate we will likely need to raise the quota.
It’s a win win.
Make sure you get the ‘cowards’ word in there too, while you’re at it.
It already takes up to 2 years for people who worked WITH our military in Iraq and Afghanistan at great personal risk to come to America. Does anyone really think we’d just open the door and say “c’mon in we were just kidding”? But even so, how can tough guy repubs be so threatened by a 5 yr old orphan?
To put a face to what I said here look at this Syrian 5 yr old:
That is what has the GOP wetting their collective panties.
The best part of President Obama’s remarks was his biblical allusion:
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress” - James 1:27
