Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum’s lead is down to four points in Public Policy Polling’s (D) numbers in the state, falling from a fifteen point lead only a week ago. Catching up is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who is at 33 percent in the new survey to Santorum’s 37, while Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) gets 15 and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich fades even further to ten percent. The Michigan primary will be held on Tuesday, February 28th.
“Romney’s supporters are also more committed than Santorum’s, so there’s reason to believe this could get even closer in the final week of the campaign,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling in a release.
American Research Group also found the race to be tightening last week, as Romney and his allied super PACs are spending millions to deliver the state for the former governor. Santorum is also competing on the air, but remains outgunned in Michigan other states readying to vote in the coming weeks.
The current TPM Poll Average has Santorum’s lead in Michigan at 3.9 percent.
