President Obama leads all possible Republican challengers in the swing state of Colorado, according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling (D). Obama leads former Mass Gov. Mitt Romney 47 – 45 and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich 50 – 42. The President also led Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and Texas Gov. Rick Perry by large margins.
Pollsters at the firm pointed to the results as a warning for the GOP on the prospect of nominating Newt. “Colorado is just another example of an emerging truth,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling said in a release. “If the Republicans nominate Mitt Romney, it’s a toss up. But if they go with Newt Gingrich Obama should be reelected comfortably.”
