WASHINGTON — A parked limousine was set on fire during inauguration protests in downtown Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon, sending thick plumes of smoke down 13 Street.

Confused demonstrators initially dispersed before returning to the site of the fire after the smoke cleared. Police officers made a human barricade keeping them from approaching the vehicle.

The limousine windows had been smashed out by protesters earlier in the afternoon, one of whom left a notecard reading “fuck trump” on the driver side mirror.

The fire occurred around the same time President Donald Trump and his family stood waving at well-wishers gathered in front of his Trump International Hotel along the inauguration parade route.
