A new Pew study shows that only 35 percent of Americans have confidence that GOP leaders in Congress to do the right thing the federal deficit, while 52 percent have that feeling about President Obama. Republicans have seen a big drop off after this summer’s debt ceiling fight: in May the GOP was trusted on the issue by 47 percent of Americans, and have fallen to the current 35. Obama only dropped three points from 55 percent support in May.
