DNC Chair Tom Perez shrugged at the tight races and President Donald Trump’s climbing favorability ratings a couple of weeks before the election, saying that he “always knew this election was going to be close.”
He added that he personally avoids using the phrase “blue wave,” saying that he wants people to stay focused on organizing.

The Dems really, really need some leadership
Hunh. Five Thirty Eight still has the House going Dem, and the odds have improved. Dem governors and state houses are unexpectedly moving to Dems. The fleeting pipe dream of flipping the Senate this year has been crushed by reality, in the face of an intractable GOP advantage that we all new was the case.
But, somehow, the Dems need leadership. Got it.
Perez knows it’s better to drive turnout if the race seems close — even if it isn’t. He’s a smart guy.
Tom Perez has been an excellent leader. Yes, some races have tightened. Guess what? Republicans are still Republicans. Who knew? But the polling I’m seeing makes me think we might still take the Senate in a year that is the toughest for any party in history.
