Paul Broun’s Wife Announces His Senate Run

Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) is running for Georgia’s open Senate seat in 2014, his wife announced in a surprise declaration at a meeting of a conservative group Georgia C.H.A.R.G.E. Broun is perhaps best known for his statement last year that evolution and the Big Bang were “lies straight from the pit of Hell” spread by scientists in an effort to turn people away from fundamentalist Christianity. The Republican primary race for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) is expected to be highly competitive given the large number of prominent Georgia Republicans in the state.
