Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Tuesday told reporters that the U.S. has not seen new indications that Syria is moving toward using chemical weapons.
“At this point the intelligence has really kind of leveled off,” Panetta said, according to the Associated Press. “We haven’t seen anything new indicating any aggressive steps to move forward in that way.”
President Obama said last week that Syria’s use of chemical weapons would be “totally unacceptable” and carry “consequences.”
