Former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell (R) kicked off the 2012 Faith & Freedom Conference in Washington D.C. with a prayer that detailed what evangelicals see as the divide in the 2012 election.
“They would like to transform our national philosophy founded upon the primacy of the individual and the supremacy of God to one founded upon the primacy of the collective good and the primacy of the federal government,” Blackwell said, referring to political opponents of the evangelicals gathtered for FFC, a group founded by former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed.
On the opening day of the conference, attendees will hear from Republican Sens. Rob Portman (OH), Marco Rubio (FL) and Jim DeMint. Later in the day, they’ll head to Capitol Hill for what FFC calls “lobby day,” in which attendees meet and mingle with members of Congress.
