The Daily Show’s John Oliver on Monday lamented Sarah Palin’s recent return to Fox News Channel, complaining that the former half-term governor of Alaska once again has demonstrated an inability to stick with anything.
“She’s now effectively quit quitting,” Oliver groaned.
But the interim host eventually had a breakthrough when it dawned on him that the former Republican vice presidential nominee is only as influential as the public makes her.
“Hold on. I think I’ve just realized something,” Oliver said. “F**k it. This is exactly what she wants. Just because I walked into a turd supermarket doesn’t mean I have to buy anything.”
Sure, the country might suffer “you betcha” withdrawals, but Oliver assured viewers that it would be worth it.
“I promise, America, it will feel so good,” he said. “It will be like we give our brains an enema together.”
