President Barack Obama isn’t certain whether he will pay a visit to his critically ill hero Nelson Mandela who remains in serious condition in South Africa.
“We’ll see what the situation is when we land,” Obama told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday morning, per a White House pool report. “I don’t need a photo-op, and the last thing I want to do is to be in any way obtrusive at a time when the family is concerned about Nelson Mandela’s condition. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with him. Michelle and the girls had an opportunity to meet with him. Right now, our main concern is with his wellbeing, his comfort, and with the family’s wellbeing and comfort.”
The office of South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma said Thursday that the 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader’s condition had improved but that he still remains in critical but stable condition.
