President Barack Obama ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all federal properties Monday, and remain at half-staff until sundown Friday, Sept. 20, in the wake of a deadly shooting at Washington Navy Yard that left at least 13 people dead.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the U.S. Capitol until sundown Friday.
The White House has also canceled “Musica Latina,” an event scheduled for tonight meant to celebrate Latin music during Hispanic Heritage Month.
