In letters to congressional leaders on Friday, President Barack Obama announced a 1 percent pay increase for U.S. service members and federal employees, starting January 2015.

    I seem to remember that federal workers had a pay freeze as a part of “austerity” measures, meaning this would starting moving things in a better direction. Can anyone verify this?
