Twitter will within months launch colored and stylized photo filters that users of mobile devices can apply to photos posted on the website in a bid to compete with Instagram, the New York Times reported late Friday. The news comes seven months after Instagram’s acquisition by Twitter rival Facebook for $1 billion, itself a deal that was struck reportedly after negotiations for Twitter to acquire to Instagram failed. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey also notably stopped using the service shortly after the Facebook acquisition was announced.
