NSA Chief Plans To Release More Details About Secret Programs

National Security Agency Director Keith Alexander told reporters on Thursday that he plans to release more information about the classified programs that were disclosed in press reports last week.

“We have pledged to be as transparent as possible,” Alexander said after a classified briefing with House members, according to The New York Times. “I think it’s important that you have that information. But we don’t want to risk American lives in doing that. So what we’re being is very deliberate in this process so that we don’t end up causing a terrorist attack by giving out too much information.”

Alexander did not provide details about what information would be disclosed, but did say it would involve statistics about the programs.

“And I think when the American people hear that, they’re going to stop and say: ‘Wait. The information we’re getting is incorrect,'” he said, referring to press reports about the programs.
