The National Rifle Association is using the Fourth of July holiday to help fill its ranks with police and members of the military.

The gun-rights organization is offering free memberships to all active-duty military, law enforcement personnel and first responders.

In addition to the one-year membership, individuals are entitled to discounts on NRA merchandise, life insurance a free subscription to the NRA American Warrior magazine.

The NRA boasted in May that its membership roster had swelled to 5 million people amid the latest push for gun control following the December massacre in Newtown, Conn.
