Newtown Leader: Obama Should Have Acted More Quickly On Gun Legislation

Newtown, Conn.’s equivalent of a mayor suggested that President Barack Obama should have initiated his pursuit for new gun laws in the immediate aftermath of the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary. 

Asked by Politico if it would have made a difference had Obama sought new gun legislation right after the shooting, Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra didn’t hesitate. 

“Yes, absolutely,” said Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra, the town’s equivalent of a mayor. “I think it would have been much more difficult to vote against change when we were still in that immediate, that first ring of response.”
