Newsweek will stop publishing a print magazine at the end of the year, transitioning to an all-digital operation. Editor Tina Brown announced Thursday morning that the Dec. 31 issue of Newsweek will be its last in print.

“It is important that we underscore what this digital transition means and, as importantly, what it does not. We are transitioning Newsweek, not saying goodbye to it,” Brown said in the announcement.

Brown also admitted that the digital transition will likely lead to layoffs at the company in the U.S. and internationally.
